Digitally encoded genetic machismo in Second Life®
Write for Us
We are currently accepting submissions from those interested in providing occassional or “guest” content – whether male, female, furry or other avatar. Please note that writing for this blog is a volunteer appointment. We don’t receive or pay any salary. It’s all about the love of writing about our SL perspective, kids. And maybe … just maybe … it’s an outlet for our bad behavior.
If you’d like to write for us here’s what to do:
Compose (1) a short bio of yourself – no more than 100 words – with your SL birth date and a brief explanation of why you want to contribute to Y Me, followed by (2) a 500 word writing sample of your work on any issue or opinion related to male culture (that’s pretty broad) in Second Life™. Use your imagination and creativity, even a little sarcasm and verbal abuse. We want to see what gears are turning inside that brain of yours.
Provide your writing sample in an in-world notecard titled “(Y Me) Contributor Submission – YOUR NAME”. Drop that notecard on Brad Goff or Catero Revolution and please be patient in receiving a response.
Basic knowledge of HTML and ability to hand script is a bonus, but it not required.
Submissions will be assessed on spelling, grammar, creativity and perspective. Those that do not follow the guidelines outlined above will not be considered. If your reading comprehension is poor you’ll find it difficult to work with us.
Do not send us schizzle!
If you are selected Brad or Catero will contact you in-world for an interview. You don’t have to dress up in a suit. What you wear is inconsequential, but be warned we will be scrutinizing your fashion sense. It’s what we do, though, we’re far more interested in your thoughts, opinions and sense of humor. Successful candidates will be put on probation at our discretion.
If you are not selected, don’t despair. We have a specific vision for Y Me. Not being chosen doesn’t necessarily mean that you suck or that we suck (though, it might), it may mean that your perspective is not compatible with that we have in mind for the blog. Life goes on. If its a dream of yours to start and SL resident blog, do it. Don’t wait on someone else to make it happen for you. Register for a free blog with Blogger, WordPress or another free or paid weblog service, start ranting and contact Tao Takashi to include your work on the Planet of SL or Fashion Planet of SL feeds.
